Located in the beautiful and peaceful village of Downderry on the stunning South East Cornish coast, Carbeil is the ideal base from which to explore Cornwall and Devon.

For walkers the South West Coast path is on our doorstep and Dartmoor National Park, less than twenty miles away, is ideal for day trips.

The bustling city of Plymouth with its shopping and night life is can be reached in around 30 minutes by bridge or ferry.

Heading into Cornwall you will find the Eden project 16 miles from us and the picturesque village of Polperro is a 30 minute drive down the coast.

Even closer to home is the bustling fishing town of Looe with a fine range of pubs and restaurants and the market town of Liskeard with supermarkets and sports facilities.

Fishing trips, for everything from shark to mackerel, can be booked in Looe and Polperro and our village slipway is suitable for launching small boats.

Within walking distance, we have our local pub, The Inn On The Shore, serving good food with great views and the Blue Plate restaurant - perfect for a special night out.

Within a few miles you will find two golf courses, the Monkey Sanctuary, Anthony House (National Trust) and one of the country’s oldest churches and St Germans.
